ABS Update
As we come to the close of another year we take time to count our many blessings. Hanukkah starts this Sunday then Christmas and New Year’s. This time of year is marked by many as a joyful time to spend with family and friends and by others as a time of loneliness, loss and sadness. Let us remember the less fortunate and try to assist where we can during this most holy time of year. During this time I am thankful for the excellent team members at Advanced Business Systems as well as the many clients that trust us with their most critical business systems. Thank you for your patronage.

Our team is encountering much interest from the overall Business Central and NAV community for the Check Magic and Statistical Accounts apps that we have available. Additionally many GP users as well as GP Partners have reached out for information on our GP 2365 migration solution. This interest is a sign of the times with many contemplating the shift to Business Central for their Digital Transformation journey.

For our legacy NAV customers, you know that we have always recommended staying relatively current on your NAV system and we have traditionally recommended an upgrade every two or three years. We have never previously had a major impending deadline that required an upgrade. We do now. Microsoft has a significant license change in store for us this coming year. It is imperative that you reach out to us to discuss the ramifications to your particular situation. 

We look forward to the coming year and know what we will have many opportunities to continue to positively impact our customer’s businesses.

Employee Spotlight: Terri Marello
Every month we like to feature a member of the ABS team. This month we are pleased to introduce Terri Marello!
 
Terri Marello is a Senior Consultant for ABS and joined the ABS team in January of 2019. In her role as a Senior Consultant, Terri spends most of her time on solution architecting and implementation consulting primarily for companies in the distribution and manufacturing industries.
 
Terri was born in Mishawaka, Indiana and now lives in Redmond, Washington, with pit stops along the way in New York, Pennsylvania,Illinois and California. She has a degree in Medical Lab Sciences from the University of Illinois.
 
Before turning into a full time NAV (and now Business Central) consultant Terri leveraged her college degree and did a lot of work with start ups in the biotech industries. She even created a microbial identification kit that went up on the space shuttle!
 
Since then, Terri has spent time both in the VAR channel in various consulting roles and as the Director of Operations for a pharmaceutical company that implemented NAV, winning a Pinnacle Award from Microsoft for Excellence in the Retail /Distribution industry. During her first year with ABS Terri has already been involved with four successful go lives.
 
On a personal level, Terri has two sons which have blessed her with two grandchildren and a dog named Gia. If Terri wasn't working at ABS, she would fill her time with the grandchildren and would love to own a food truck focused on Italian cuisine, especially meatball sandwiches.
 
Getting Ready for Year End
We recently held a "Getting Ready for Year End" webinar. Failure to Upgrade NAV
We often get asked, what really happens if you choose to remain on your legacy NAV solution instead of upgrading to the "latest and greatest" version? The short answer is it depends on your specific situation and there are a lot of issues to consider. To that end we have created an eBook to address this topic. This eBook includes the topics of:

Of particular importance is the topic of C/AL vs AL code.​ If you have C/AL customizations there is a rapidly approaching deadline that you need to consider and that deadline is October 2020. After October 2020 you will be required to convert your C/AL code to AL when you upgrade to Business Central. This introduces an additional level of complexity to the upgrade process we recommend avoiding if at all possible. The eBook contains more information on this topic.
 
 
Why Pay for a NAV/Business Central Support Plan?
Why should your organization pay for a Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central support plan? 

Ask yourself: do you have a maintenance plan in place for your critical equipment? What about your manufacturing equipment? Vehicles? Copiers?

Your Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is just as important, if not more so. Jet Reports - Important Notice
 
 
 
There are some changes we want you to be aware of regarding Jet’s current pricing and packaging:
  • Current pricing and packaging, including outstanding proposals, expires on December 31st, 2019.
  • From now until that time, you have the opportunity to get grandfathered into the existing licensing bundles that include unlimited Viewer users.
  • This allows everyone in your organization to run, refresh, and drill down on reports.
  • Customers purchasing on or after January 1st, 2020 will be required to purchase individual named user viewer licenses.
